Moon & Star is the dynamic duo of Mathia Gavriel (Moon) and Jennifer Karr (Star)—two independent music industry veterans who bring their raw talent to both the stage and behind the scenes. Their music has been heard on the radio, featured in film and television, and performed around the globe. Known for their cinematic approach, they craft moody, atmospheric soundscapes perfect for deep, emotional scenes. Whether it’s an original track or a reimagined cover, their sound is both haunting and captivating.
Mathia, born in Tel Aviv and raised in Germany, has been mastering instruments and composing music since the age of 6. A talented producer, singer, and songwriter, he’s worked on numerous projects, including his own Warner Music Germany release. Jennifer, born in Atlantic City, raised in New York, and now calling Los Angeles home, has spent years lending her powerful voice to radio hits and world tours. Together, they create magic.
Moon & Star’s journey began in the summer of 2012, when they met in Europe to write music for another artist. The chemistry was undeniable, and after a year of traveling between Berlin and LA, Jenny moved to Berlin to work with Mathia on his solo project. By 2015, they made Los Angeles their home base, collaborating by day on music for artists, TV, and film, and by night building their own unique sound.
Their music is inspired by life’s complexities, the highs and lows of love, travel, and the beautiful chaos of human connection. Now, Moon & Star are releasing their own cinematic reimaginings of timeless classics like R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”, Oasis’s “Wonderwall”, and Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You”. Each track is a moody, evocative journey, perfect for scoring emotional, filmic moments.
